Earthquake in Afghanistan felt in Uzbekistan

Late yesterday, October 21, at 23:14 Tashkent time, an earthquake occurred in Afghanistan, the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring reported.

According to the report, the epicenter was located 556 kilometers southeast of Tashkent, with a magnitude of 6 and a depth of 225 kilometers. The tremor intensity at the epicenter reached 3 points. The earthquake struck in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan at coordinates 36.48°N latitude and 71.09°E longitude.

The earthquake was felt in several regions of Uzbekistan as follows:

  •  Surkhandarya region – 3 points (349 km away)
  •  Fergana region – 2–3 points (438 km)
  •  Syrdarya region – 2–3 points (489 km)
  •  Andijan region – 2–3 points (492 km)
  •  Jizzakh region – 2–3 points (493 km)
  •  Samarkand region – 2–3 points (505 km)
  •  Namangan region – 2–3 points (505 km)
  •  Kashkadarya region – 2–3 points (536 km)
  •  Tashkent city – 2 points (556 km)

It is worth noting that earlier, a 7-point earthquake occurred in Kyrgyzstan, with tremors also felt in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
