8119Due to heavy rains expected from July 17-22, floods may occur in the mountainous regions of the republic. The director of the Uzgidromet Agency, Sherzod Habibullayev, has issued this warning.
It is reported that floods may occur in the following areas:
- Yakkabog, Dehqonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, Guzor districts of the Kashkadarya region;
- Sariosia, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shorchi, Qumqorgon, Muzrabot districts of the Surkhandarya region;
- Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiobod districts of the Jizzakh region;
- Ohangaron, Bostonliq, Parkent, Piskent, O'rta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq districts, and Angren, Olmaliq cities in the Tashkent region;
- Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, Yangiqorgon districts in the Namangan region;
- Sokh, Shohimardan, Fergana, and Beshariq districts in the Fergana region;
- Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khoobod, Marhamat districts, and Khonobod city in the Andijan region.
"Citizens living in these areas, vacationers, and drivers traveling through mountainous regions are urged to take precautionary measures," the report stated.
There is also a possibility of rainwater accumulation in the republic, which may cause flooding in some areas.
