Mandate of 32 judges was terminated early

7095The terms of 32 judges in Uzbekistan were terminated earlier this year, according to an announcement made by officials of the Supreme Council of Judges at a press conference on September 19.
As of September 18, 2024, there are 1,490 judges serving in the judiciary, with 209 of them being women, including 24 in leadership roles.
Nodira Bobokhonova, head of the Supreme Council of Judges, provided further details, stating, "Currently, 511 judges in Uzbekistan are serving their first five-year term. Additionally, 923 judges, or about 70% of the total, are serving 10-year terms, while 54 judges hold indefinite appointments."
Bobokhonova also noted that the mandate of 32 judges was terminated earlier this year. Of these, 13 judges were removed for violating their judicial oath, 6 for breaching the Judges' Code of Ethics, and 13 stepped down voluntarily before completing their terms.
