In 2023, 130 thousand people die in Uzbekistan

Over the last two years, the death rate has decreased in Uzbekistan, and the population growth rate has accelerated. This information was reported by the Statistics Agency.


According to the agency, a total of 129,700 people died in the Republic from January to September this year. This is 500 fewer people than in the same period last year. Additionally, the number of deaths in 2021 decreased by 2,400 people over the course of two years.


Of these deaths, 71,400 were men and 58,300 were women in the last nine months. The highest number of deaths occurred in August when 10,308 people passed away. Geographically, these statistics correspond to the populations of large cities, with 69.6 thousand people in urban areas and 60.1 thousand people in rural areas.


The primary cause of death, at about 60 percent, was diseases of the circulatory system. Tumors accounted for 10.7%, respiratory diseases for 6.6%, accidents, poisoning, and injuries for 4.7%, digestive diseases for 3.6%, infectious and parasitic diseases for 1.4%, and 14.1% of deaths resulted from other causes.


Among those who passed away, 12.1 percent were younger than working age, 23.9 percent were of working age, and 64 percent were older than working age. The regions with the highest increase in death rates were Syrdarya, Navoi, Namangan, Andijan, and Karakalpakstan.


It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that the population of Uzbekistan is increasing by 2,100 people every day.
