In February of this year, Bahodir Gulomov, the prosecutor of Kogon District in the Bukhara Region, was arrested for accepting a substantial bribe. On August 2, his case was reviewed by the Samarkand City Court on Criminal Cases, and the verdict was announced. Aziz Obidov, Press Secretary of the Supreme Court, informed QALAMPIR.UZ of this development.

It is reported that in early January of this year, the prosecutor, intending to fraudulently acquire a large sum of money from another individual, namely forwarder N.N. and dangerous recidivist Z.A., engaged in criminal collusion. Utilizing his official position, he gained the trust of one of the founders of the society, M.I. He proposed that a bribe of $100,000 would resolve the issue of avoiding indictment and criminal responsibility through officials in the Bukhara Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Subsequently, on January 15, in front of the "Turon" hotel in Bukhara, Bahodir Gulomov handed over $100,000 to his criminal associate N.N. He continued his illicit activities, repeatedly paying bribes amounting to $100,000 to prevent the involvement of individuals associated with "Kogon Oil Extraction Plant" JSC in the investigation and to evade criminal charges. He also fraudulently obtained $44,000, of which $10,000 was given to Z.A., and the remaining $34,000 was kept by N.N. to be handed over to Bahodir Gulomov in the future.

On February 13, 2024, during an urgent operation near the Bukhara City Central Hospital, Bahodir Gulomov was apprehended with $56,000. During the operation, it was discovered that $34,000 of the $100,000 requested to prevent the involvement of four individuals related to the society in the criminal case against the officials of "Kogon Oil Extraction Plant" JSC was found in the Cobalt car of the defendant, N.N., and was confiscated according to protocol.

At the court session, the former prosecutor admitted to the crime, expressed sincere regret for his actions, apologized to the head of state, and requested leniency from the court.

According to the court’s verdict, Bahodir Gulomov was found guilty of the crimes specified in Article 168, Part 4, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code (excessive bribery) and Article 28, Article 211, Part 3, Clause "a" (participation in paying a large amount of bribes). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and barred from working in the prosecutor’s office for 3 years. Additionally, N.N. was sentenced to 11 years, and Z.A. considered a dangerous recidivist, was sentenced to 12 years.

It is noted that on February 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided details about the arrest of the Kogon prosecutor during a meeting in Khanabad city concerning the priority tasks for the socio-economic development of the Andijan region.
