More than 1,500 Uzbek citizens who meet professional and language requirements can officially find work in Slovenia. This was announced yesterday, May 22, in Ljubljana by the Director of the Migration Agency Behzod Musaev, in a short interview with the blog "Sinchalak".

According to him, by 2025, the unemployment rate in Slovenia has reached record lows - around 3.2-3.5 percent. The high level of employment has led to a shortage of specialists in the local labor market. The shortage of personnel is especially acute in the construction, service, healthcare, hotel and restaurant business, manufacturing, education and information technology sectors. Slovenia is a developed European country with a population of just over 2 million. The per capita GDP is 35 thousand euros, and from a development point of view, the country needs workers in many areas.

“We held a labor forum here together with the Employment Service. More than 20 large employers participated in it. We signed contracts with 7 of them, and on this basis, we have received applications for 1,500 jobs today. The income is high. The minimum wage here is 1,100 euros, and wages grow rapidly depending on the specialty and language skills,” said Musaev.

According to the director of the Migration Agency, currently, mainly citizens of the Philippines and Nepal are coming to fill vacancies in Slovenia. However, many do not meet the requirements of the European labor market.

“Next month, a working group from Slovenia will visit Uzbekistan to study the opportunities created in our country. After that, we will announce separate competitions for Slovenia,” said Behzod Musaev.

He also said that knowledge of English and Slovenian (at least B1 level) is required for employment.

It is worth recalling that on May 21, Mirziyoyev paid an official visit to Ljubljana at the invitation of Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar. On May 22, an official welcoming ceremony for President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held at the Congress Square in Ljubljana. In addition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar held talks in a narrow circle and with the participation of official delegations at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana. At the same time, Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob.
