President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Draupadi Murmu, the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance led by the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party, on her election as the president of the Republic of India.

"In the letter from our head of state, confidence is expressed that with joint efforts, the multifaceted, long-term and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and India will be raised to a new level in terms of quality," - said Sherzod Asadov, press secretary of the president’s administration.

It should be noted that Draupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th President of India and is the second female head of state in the country's history.
