Mirziyoyev welcomes UAE ministers to strengthen bilateral ties

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 13, consisting of Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Muhammad Al-Mazrui, according to the Presidential Press Service. 

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and advancing joint investment projects.

Sultan Al-Jaber conveyed greetings and best wishes from UAE leaders, including President Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, and Vice President Sheikh Mansour Al Nahyan.

"During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing partnership between Uzbekistan and the UAE. Trade volumes, joint ventures, and air connections between the two nations have significantly increased. The UAE's investment in Uzbekistan, facilitated by leading Emirati companies, has now reached $20 billion," the report states.

A notable highlight of the partnership is "green" energy. The Navoi region recently saw the launch of a 500-megawatt wind farm, developed by Masdar, a UAE-based renewable energy company. Over the past few years, Masdar has helped establish electricity generation facilities with a total capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in Uzbekistan.

"Discussions also addressed the swift implementation of major investment projects across various sectors, including energy, oil and gas, chemicals, mining, water supply, and waste processing," the report states.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining effective dialogue and preparing for upcoming high-level events.
