1773To protect the rights of Uzbek citizens and foster closer cooperation with Russian law enforcement agencies, a new position for a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan has been established at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia. This measure was outlined in a resolution signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev titled “On Increasing the Effectiveness of the Activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.”
According to the resolution, the post of First Secretary – Representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan has been added to the Embassy's staffing structure.
Key responsibilities of the representative:
Enhancing Cooperation: Strengthen cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and Russia, ensuring mutual trust and adherence to internationally recognized principles and norms of international law.
Proposal Development: Formulate practical proposals to deepen cooperation in combating crime and ensuring public security, while also supporting the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens.
Combating Crime: Support cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies of both countries in tackling organized crime, terrorism, extremism, human trafficking, illegal migration, and other crimes. This includes assisting in investigations and facilitating the rapid exchange of information.
Consular Support: Aid in the performance of consular functions aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens.
Application Review: Receive and review oral, written, or electronic applications from individuals and legal entities on issues related to crime, offenses, human trafficking, and illegal migration in line with Uzbekistan's legal procedures.
This decision underscores Uzbekistan's commitment to safeguarding its citizens abroad and strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia in law enforcement and public security.
