Hilola Umarova awards badge to the mayor who had previously arrested the school principal

The Minister of Pre-School and School Education, Hilola Umarova, presented the "Patron of Education" badge to Ulugbek Qosimov, the governor of the Surkhandarya region. Qosimov had a confrontation with a school director nearly a year ago. This was announced by the ministry's press service.
Minister Umarova engaged in discussions with educational institution leaders, teachers, and esteemed educators in the Surkhandarya region. During the meeting, six high-performing teachers received the "Excellence of Public Education" badge, and letters of appreciation were distributed to dedicated teachers, students, and their parents.
Currently, the region has 978 schools employing nearly 57,000 teachers.
To recall, a video surfaced last year showing a meeting between Surkhandarya regional governor Ulugbek Qosimov and the principal of the 28th school in the Sariosia district. The video depicted the governor accusing the principal of causing disruptions in the school's environment and bringing shame to the region. The principal, identified as T.U., refuted the accusations and challenged the governor by saying, "If you have a gun, shoot.”
