Presidents of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan hold summit in Khujand

2461Today, March 31, a meeting between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, and Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov began in Khujand, the capital of Tajikistan. The press service of the Tajik president reported the event.
At the start of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon warmly welcomed his counterparts and once again extended his congratulations on the Nowruz holiday.
"We in Tajikistan highly value our good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which are based on equality, mutual respect, and shared interests," Rahmon stated.
He also described the signing of an agreement between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan on the point of confluence of their state borders as a “very important event.”
Additionally, Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the enforcement of the Treaty on Alliance Relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, emphasizing that this historic agreement marks “a qualitatively new stage in the development of relations between the two countries.”
Concluding his speech, Rahmon expressed confidence that the outcomes of today’s meeting would further strengthen friendship, good-neighborly ties, mutual understanding, and trust, fostering constructive and productive cooperation among the three nations and their peoples.
Earlier today, upon his arrival in Khujand, President Mirziyoyev met with President Rahmon. Later, the three leaders are expected to sign an agreement on the state border junction of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The presidents will also attend a joint concert featuring performances by artists.
