On July 16, an explosion occurred at a gas station in the Kokdala district of the Kashkadarya region. A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident, according to Hayot Shamsuddinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The case has been launched under Articles 205 (Abuse of power or official authority) and 259 (Violation of fire safety rules) of the Criminal Code. Work is ongoing to assess the scale of the fire and the extent of the damage, with the involvement of specialists in relevant fields.

“Forensic medical, chemical, biological, and fire-technical examinations have been assigned as part of the criminal case to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing,” said Shamsuddinov.

According to reports, four people died in the incident.

It should be recalled that on December 17 of last year, a major explosion occurred at a gas station in the city of Fergana, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to several others.

That case was heard by the Fergana District Court for Criminal Cases. The head of the gas station was sentenced to five years in prison and banned from engaging in entrepreneurial activity for three years. He was also ordered to pay 1.24 billion soums in moral damages to the legal representatives of the four victims and 2.36 billion soums in material damages to twelve civil plaintiffs.
