Uzbekistan will equip water-saving technologies, including pumps and filter devices, with satellite monitoring systems. This measure is outlined in the Presidential Decree adopted on February 5, 2026, titled “On Additional Measures to Improve the Efficiency of Water Resource Use.”

According to the decree, starting October 1, 2026, suppliers and local manufacturers implementing water-saving technologies will be required to produce pumps and filters with digital QR-coded labels and install a satellite tracking system (GPS tracker).

From the same date, the installation of water-saving technologies must comply with mandatory minimum requirements and standards.

A new subsidy system will also take effect for entrepreneurs who implement water-saving technologies using their own funds without bank loans:

The project initiator will prepare project and estimate documents in accordance with minimum requirements and standards.
These documents, together with a contract signed with the supplying company, will serve as the basis for an advance payment of 50 percent of the calculated subsidy by the Agricultural Payments Agency.
Once the water-saving technologies are installed and put into operation according to the project documents, the remaining 50 percent of the subsidy will be paid to the project initiator.
If the technologies are not installed and operational within two months after the initial 50 percent of the subsidy has been paid, the allocated funds must be returned according to established procedures.

It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that starting in 2027, the installation of “smart” water meters in rice paddies and aquaculture areas will become mandatory.
