Henley & Partners has released the updated 2026 edition of its Passport Index. The ranking is compiled based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and covers passports from more than 100 countries.
According to the index, Uzbekistan ranked 75th, sharing this position with Kyrgyzstan. Holders of an Uzbek passport can travel visa-free to 61 countries. In 2025, Uzbekistan was ranked 80th in the same index.
Kazakhstan was placed 61st, with its citizens able to enter 78 countries without a visa, making it the strongest passport in the region. Tajikistan ranked 81st with access to 54 destinations, while Turkmenistan took 87th place with 47 destinations.
Singapore topped the ranking, offering visa-free access to 192 countries. It was followed by Japan and South Korea, each providing access to 188 countries.
For reference, the Henley & Partners Passport Index is an international ranking that orders countries according to the level of travel freedom their citizens enjoy. The index analyzes visa regulations across different countries and territories and ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter either visa-free or by obtaining a visa on arrival. A country’s position in the ranking is determined by the number of destinations its citizens can access without securing a visa in advance.
Earlier, the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) published the Global Peace Index 2025, which assesses countries based on safety and peacefulness. Uzbekistan rose by two positions compared to the previous year and ranked 64th overall.
