Uzbekistan’s delegation has earned another quota place for the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, the National Olympic Committee’s press service reported.
According to the statement, the International Skating Union has redistributed quotas across competition programs, confirming that Uzbekistan’s Daniil Yeybog will also compete in the 1,500-meter event.
For reference, Yeybog’s start in this distance is scheduled for February 14. He will also compete in the 500-meter event on the same day. Medet Nazarov will represent Uzbekistan in alpine skiing in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines. Following the qualification cycle, Dmitriy Chigiryov and Yekaterina Geynish had secured an Olympic berth in pairs figure skating. However, Chigiryov suffered an injury during preparations and did not recover in time for the competition. As a result, Uzbekistan’s delegation will compete only in alpine skiing and short track events.
Earlier, Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, widely known on social media as the “Olympic beauty,” won a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics and set a new Olympic record.
