2 killed and 5 injured in fire at Tashkent technopark

Today, May 1, a fire broke out at a synthiphone production workshop in the technopark on Qoshbegi Street, Yakkasaroy district, Tashkent. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has confirmed that 2 people died and 5 others were injured in the incident.

After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of two victims were found during the inspection of the scene. Five injured individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was caused by a violation of the technological process during production.

Firefighters used 11 main and 6 special types of fire extinguishing equipment to control and put out the fire.

The blaze destroyed and damaged the roof, ceiling, and products across approximately 700 square meters of the workshop.

A preliminary investigation is currently underway. The Emergency Situations Department leadership, along with officers from the Tashkent city Federal Investigation Department, district Federal Investigation Department, Internal Affairs Department, State Security Department, and the prosecutor’s office, are all working at the site.
