Tax inspector caught with a bribe in Surkhandarya (video)

A tax inspector of the Shorchi district state tax inspectorate in Surkhandarya region has been caught receiving a bribe, the State Security Service reported.

The inspector, abusing his official position, colluded with a citizen born in 1999 to demand 8 million soums in exchange for clearing the tax debt of a local entrepreneur’s LLC, which amounted to 19.4 million soums.

During a rapid operation, the citizen born in 1999 was detained while receiving the money. The operation was then continued, and the inspector’s illegal activities were stopped when he received 6 million soums from the same citizen through a third party.

A criminal case has been initiated against the tax inspector under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause “c,” and Article 210 (Bribery), Part 2, Clause “c” of the Criminal Code. His accomplice has also been charged under Article 28.168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause “c,” and Article 212 (Intermediation in Bribery), Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code. Both have been placed under arrest.

It is worth noting that earlier in Jizzakh region, an inspector of the city Security Department and a tax system employee were also detained while receiving a bribe.
