Uzbekistan may soon introduce a system that uses artificial intelligence to identify passengers who do not pay fares on buses. This was announced at a press conference held at Toshshahartransxizmat JSC on May 14 this year.
Officials said that more than 50,000 people were found to have used buses in Tashkent without paying the fare in the first four months of this year. Students accounted for 70% of them. According to Toshshahartransxizmat, there are plans to monitor fare evasion through artificial intelligence.
“A solution has been developed to monitor passengers who do not pay their fares using artificial intelligence. We have all the necessary data. We even know which passengers regularly fail to pay on specific routes,” said Shohruz Khojiyev, adviser to the chairman of the board of Toshshahartransxizmat JSC on digitalization and the introduction of artificial intelligence.
According to him, all passenger movements can be analyzed through artificial intelligence integrated with cameras installed on buses. He said the system will separately analyze each passenger who passes by the payment device installed near every door.
Earlier, it was reported that starting May 7, air conditioning systems would be required to operate on buses in Tashkent.
