A tax inspector in Bukhara was caught red-handed after demanding a $400 bribe in exchange for lifting the property seizure imposed on the head of a limited liability company (LLC). This was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the report, the Bukhara City Tax Inspectorate had initiated enforcement proceedings against the head of an LLC operating in the region for failing to submit the company’s turnover and income tax reports for November–December 2024 and January–February of this year in a timely manner. However, the Bukhara City Court for Criminal Cases later issued a decision to cancel the imposed penalty on the LLC.
Despite this, the chief inspector of the Bukhara City Tax Inspection Branch demanded $400 to lift the seizure on the company head’s property, even though a court decision had already nullified the penalty. The inspector was apprehended during a sting operation conducted by the regional departments of the State Security Service and the Internal Revenue Service while accepting the bribe.
A criminal case has been initiated against the official, and investigative actions are currently underway.
It is worth recalling that earlier, the chief inspector of the Entrepreneurship Support and Services Department of the Andijan Regional Tax Department, as well as the chief inspector of the Department for Monitoring Tax Authority Activities in the Surkhandarya region, were also caught accepting bribes.
