Today, October 6, the President of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA), Bahodir Nizomovich Qurbonov, signed a contract with the new head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Fabio Cannavaro, at the National Football Center, the UFA reported.
’’First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the trust shown. It is a great honor and, at the same time, a huge responsibility to work in a football-loving country like Uzbekistan. It is clear that not only the national team but also the youth and junior teams participating in the World Cup is the result of the great attention being paid to football in Uzbekistan. I will do my utmost for the success of the Uzbekistan national team,’’ Fabio Cannavaro said.

As a player, Fabio Cannavaro achieved glory with the Italian national team by winning the 2006 World Cup. That same year, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or as the best footballer in the world and also received FIFA’s World Player of the Year award.
As a head coach, Cannavaro has managed several teams, including the China national team, Al-Nassr (Saudi Arabia), Tianjin Quanjian (China), Guangzhou Evergrande (China), Benevento (Italy), Udinese (Italy), and Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia).
It is worth noting that the former head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Temur Kapadze, has been appointed as an assistant coach in Fabio Cannavaro’s new staff.
