Eighteen facilities in Tashkent city and region that were polluting the atmosphere have had their operations temporarily halted, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change reported.
According to the statement, on the evening of 24 November, after 7:00 p.m., large-scale environmental monitoring measures were carried out across the country to ensure environmental safety, protect public health, and combat air pollution.
The environmental inspections were organized by the State Environmental Control Inspection (Eco-Police) under the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. They were conducted by four rapid response teams in Qibray, Zangiota, and Tashkent districts of Tashkent region, as well as in Tashkent city. Additional personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, and law enforcement agencies were involved, and their activities were coordinated.
During the inspections, a total of 103 enterprises and economic entities were checked for compliance with legislation on air protection.
As a result, 38 violations were identified, and administrative fines totaling 34.8 million soums were imposed on those responsible. In addition, the operations of 18 facilities that caused environmental damage and violated legal requirements were temporarily suspended for 10 days.
It should be noted that earlier, authorities from the environmental sector and law enforcement had also launched large-scale inspection raids in Tashkent region and Tashkent city. Facilities violating environmental norms, including greenhouses, various types of furnaces, and factories emitting harmful substances into the air, were inspected by the rapid response teams.
