Uzbeks to be repatriated from the United States on a charter flight

On April 30, Uzbek citizens who are illegally residing in the United States and have been included in the list of foreigners subject to deportation will be repatriated to Uzbekistan on a special charter flight. This was announced by Ahror Burkhanov, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry, Uzbekistan is actively strengthening cooperation with the United States in the field of migration policy and the repatriation of its citizens. Particular attention is being paid to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbeks abroad.

Within the framework of bilateral agreements, a charter flight will operate on the New York–Tashkent route to return citizens who have violated visa rules or whose legal stay in the US has expired.

“This repatriation initiative is aimed at ensuring the rights of Uzbek citizens who find themselves in difficult situations abroad. It is being carried out in accordance with international norms, obligations, and human rights standards. The process is based on humanitarian and legal principles and ensures the dignified and safe return of our citizens,” the statement noted.

The organization of the charter flight is being coordinated in close collaboration with the consular and migration services of both countries. All measures are being taken with full respect for the rights of the individuals involved and in compliance with the current legislation of both Uzbekistan and the United States.

“This step is part of Uzbekistan’s comprehensive migration policy aimed at managing migration flows, ensuring legal protection and integration of citizens abroad, and facilitating their safe and humane return to their homeland,” the Foreign Ministry added.

It should be recalled that, following earlier negotiations with US authorities, seven Uzbek citizens—who were initially scheduled to be sent to Costa Rica but expressed a desire to return to Uzbekistan—were previously repatriated on the New York–Tashkent route.
