Man detained for promising military employment in exchange for money

A man who allegedly promised to secure employment in military service in exchange for payment has been detained in Surkhandarya region, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

According to the statement, a law enforcement operation was conducted in the region by the Internal Security Department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.

According to preliminary information, the suspect, identified as Kh.I., falsely claimed to have worked in the department and said he had close connections with officials in the Border Troops of the State Security Service. He allegedly promised to arrange contract-based military employment for the applicant, identified as M.Q., and demanded $1,000 through fraudulent means.

During the operation carried out on March 21, the suspect was caught while receiving the requested $1,000, equivalent to 12.2 million soums. The money was seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated against Kh.I. under Article 168 (fraud), Part 3, Clause “b,” as well as Articles 28 and 211 (bribery), Part 1 of the Criminal Code.

Further investigation revealed that the detained individual had not worked in any state institution, including the department under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Earlier, a similar case was reported in the city of Karshi, Kashkadarya region, where a mayor’s assistant and a leading specialist were detained while receiving a $1,000 bribe.
