Man who financed terrorist organizations was arrested in Jizzakh

6216A 27-year-old man has been arrested in the Jizzakh region for distributing materials and providing financial support to international terrorist organizations, as reported by the Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
It was revealed that the suspect, who lived in the Kuyovboshi neighborhood of the Sharof Rashidov district, had traveled to Russia multiple times between 2017 and spring 2024, working in trade, production, and construction. During this time, he reportedly listened to audio and video materials from international terrorist organizations banned in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the man joined religious content channels and groups on his account, where he was exposed to extremist and fanatical ideas, which he supported. Upon his return to Uzbekistan in March, he was apprehended during a swift operation. His mobile phone, taken as evidence in the presence of impartial witnesses, contained conversations with unknown account holders regarding his planned departure to Saudi Arabia.
Further investigation revealed that several account holders had sent video materials displaying terrorist organization symbols. The suspect had also transferred over 100,000 rubles to accounts linked to terrorist group members using a bank card in his name.
During a hearing at the Zomin district court for criminal cases, the accused expressed regret for his actions and was sentenced to 8 years and 1 month in prison.
Earlier, a group of supporters of the international terrorist organization *Tawhid and Jihad Secretariat*, operating in Kokand, Fergana region, was exposed. The Kokand city court sentenced members of this group under Article 155-3 (Financing of Terrorism), Article 159 (Encroachment on the Constitutional System of Uzbekistan), Article 244-1 (Public Preparation, Storage, Distribution, or Display of Materials Threatening Security and Public Order), and Article 244-2 (Establishment, Leadership, or Participation in Prohibited Organizations) to prison terms ranging from 6 to 12 years.
