In the Jizzakh region, an officer from the Jizzakh City Department of the Security Service and a former tax inspector were caught accepting a bribe. This was reported by the State Security Service (SSS).
According to the report, in order to identify and curb corruption within state structures, an operation was conducted jointly by the SSS and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
During the operation, the security officer was caught red-handed with material evidence while accepting $500 in exchange for reducing tax debts and fines imposed on two LLCs specializing in education and household services. He allegedly acted with the assistance of a former tax inspector who held the position until June this year. Both individuals were detained in accordance with procedural requirements.
A criminal case has been initiated against them under Article 25.168, Part 2, Clause “b” (Fraud) of the Criminal Code. Investigative measures are currently underway.
