Citizen fined for eating live river snake in Jizzakh

19018A citizen in Jizzakh region has been penalized for eating a live river snake, as reported by the Jizzakh regional Ecology Department.
The incident gained attention after a video of the act was leaked to social media, prompting an investigation in collaboration with the Zomin district department of the regional Ecology Department and the Internal Affairs Department. The investigation revealed that the individual responsible was Q.H.
By engaging in this act, the citizen violated several provisions of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection and Use of Wildlife," specifically Articles 4, 30, 51, and 53.
As a result, state inspectors imposed a fine on Q.H. equivalent to 20 times the minimum wage (7.5 million sums) under Part 1 of Article 90 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which addresses violations related to hunting, fishing, and other forms of wildlife exploitation. The damage to nature was assessed at 1,125,000 sums.
Earlier, it was reported that illegal sand and gravel mining from the Chirchik River in Tashkent region had caused 700 billion sums in environmental damage.
