Criminal case opened after pregnant woman attacked in Jizzakh (video)

On April 19, 2025, reports emerged of a pregnant woman being assaulted by a male and female vendor in Jizzakh city. Following the incident, a criminal case has been opened against those who inflicted harm on the woman, according to the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The incident occurred on March 18, 2025, in the Mirzo Ulugbek neighborhood of Jizzakh city. A dispute over debt between Q.S. and Sh.N. escalated, resulting in Q.S. physically assaulting Sh.N. and causing injuries. A forensic medical examination confirmed that the victim sustained minor injuries affecting her health.

According to the victim’s statement, the altercation began when she attempted to return an overpriced product, leading to a confrontation. Video footage shows the male vendor striking the pregnant woman, causing her to fall, while the female vendor hit her with a mop and pulled her hair.

The Department of Internal Affairs stated that the Investigation Department of Jizzakh city has initiated a criminal case under Article 109, Part 1 (intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) of the Criminal Code. Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.

On March 15, 2025, a similar case was reported in Chirakchi district, Kashkadarya region, where a 24-year-old woman lost her 4-month pregnancy after being assaulted by her husband and mother-in-law. Her 1.5-year-old child was also injured during the altercation. Investigations into that incident are ongoing.
