The 5th round of the Challenger group of the Tata Steel-2023 international chess tournament has ended in the Dutch city of Wijk-an-Zee.  As we reported earlier, Javohir Sindorov is defending the honor of Uzbekistan in the "Challenger" group.

In the 5th round, Sindorov defeated Slovakian grandmaster Jergus Pechak.  The representative of Uzbekistan scored 3.5 points out of 5 chances and climbed to 2nd place on the tournament table.

After five rounds, Turkish Mustafa Yilmaz leads the Challenger group with 4 points.  In the 6th round, Sindorov will compete against Brazil's Luis Supi in black.

It should be recalled that on 17 January, Nodirbek Abdusattorov defeated Iran's Parham Magsudlu in the matches of the "Masters" group of the "Tata Steel-2023" international tournament.  Abdusattarov is also in second place in his group.
