By the end of 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will carry out a full inspection of all special traffic monitoring equipment installed at intersections and along roadways. This initiative is part of a government resolution adopted on the instructions of the President of Uzbekistan.
According to the resolution:
- The Ministry of Internal Affairs will inspect all special traffic equipment across intersections and roads by the end of 2025;
- Based on the inspection results, equipment installed without proper authorization or in violation of technical and regulatory standards will be dismantled;
- In areas where drivers frequently exceed speed limits, electronic signs will be installed to display real-time vehicle speeds;
- Measures will be implemented to ensure the protection of personal data and prevent misuse of traffic monitoring equipment by private operators.
It is also worth noting that the resolution specifies several related reforms:
- Starting June 1, it will no longer be permitted to record traffic violations related to road markings using automated photo and video systems, except for violations of the stop line (road sign 5.33);
- From the same date, road repairs and the application of road markings will be prohibited from 07:00 to 21:00, except on weekends or in urgent cases that cannot be delayed;
- Beginning September 1, the installation of “Radar” road signs will be mandatory in areas where stationary or mobile speed enforcement radars are located. These signs must be placed at distances of no less than 250 meters and no more than 500 meters from the radar;
- Additionally, vehicles other than buses will be allowed to use lanes marked with the letter “A” between 23:00 and 06:00 without it being considered a violation.
These measures are aimed at improving transparency, ensuring fairness in the enforcement of traffic laws, and enhancing overall road safety.
