19725Colonel Alijon Ganievich Ashurov, the head of the Internal Security Department of the State Security Service, has been dismissed, according to a report by QALAMPIR.UZ.
This follows the recent dismissal of his brother, Sarvar Ganievich Ashurov, who was removed from his position as Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Reception Office. Shukhrat Musojonovich Ibragimov, who was previously Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, has been appointed to replace Sarvar Ashurov in this role.
In a broader wave of personnel changes, after Abdusalom Abdumavlonovich Azizov was dismissed from his post as Chairman of the State Security Service, Bakhodir Nizomovich Kurbanov, who was serving as Minister of Defense, was appointed Chairman of the State Security Service. In turn, Shukhrat Gayratjonovich Kholmukhammedov, previously the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, was appointed Minister of Defense. Additionally, Colonel Ahrorjon Halimjonovich Atxamov, Head of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Rapid Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Colonel Doniyor Bakhtiyorovich Toshkhodjayev, First Deputy Head of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department, were dismissed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. Lieutenant Colonel Temur Akramovich Sobirov, Head of the Organized Crime Department of the Rapid Investigation Service of the Internal Affairs Department, was also dismissed.
