Abdusalom Azizov was transferred to the Security Council

Lieutenant General Abdusalom Azizov, the former Chairman of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan, has been transferred to the Security Council under the President. The news was confirmed by a source from QALAMPIR.UZ.

Azizov served as the head of the SSS since 2019. Details regarding his new role within the Security Council and the implications of this transition remain unclear.

Abdusalom Abdumavlonovich Azizov was born on January 20, 1960, in Tashkent. He is a graduate of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and has held several high-ranking positions throughout his career: 2003–2006: Chairman of the Board, National Holding Company "Uzbekneftegaz", 2006–2008: General Director, JSC "Uzbekneftmahsulot", 2005: Head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs, Tashkent city, November–December 2008: Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, 2008–2009: First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs; concurrently Vice-President of the Football Federation of Uzbekistan, 2009–2017: Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, Jizzakh region, January–September 2017: Minister of Internal Affairs, 2017–2019: Minister of Defense, 2019: Promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed Chairman of the SSS.

Let's remember that, Bahodir Kurbanov, former Minister of Defense, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the State Security Service.
Shuhrat Kholmukhammedov, previously First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, has been named Minister of Defense.
