Uzbekistan's first ambassador to Montenegro was appointed

1347Oybek Shakhavdinov, previously Uzbekistan's ambassador to Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia, has been appointed as the first extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Montenegro, according to the Dunyo news agency.
Shakhavdinov presented his credentials to Montenegro’s President, Jakov Milatović, on November 25.
During the ceremony at the presidential residence, discussions were held on the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Montenegrin relations, focusing on advancing them to a new qualitative level. President Milatović emphasized the potential for bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economic development, investment, and cultural exchanges. He also highlighted the importance of fostering favorable conditions for tourism and humanitarian interactions.
The 46-year-old diplomat is a graduate of the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom), Tashkent State Law University (master’s degree), and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he completed a course for translators. Shakhavdinov began his career at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent and has progressed through various diplomatic roles, including positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels. He is proficient in English, Russian, and French.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Montenegro were established on December 19, 2006.
Earlier this year, in March, Shakhavdinov was appointed Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Hungary. In October, he became the inaugural ambassador to Croatia and Slovenia.
