The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Bahrain (with residence in Riyadh), Nodirjon Turgunov, has presented copies of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, in an online ceremony. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
During the conversation following the official ceremony, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bahrain, as well as pressing issues on the international agenda, were discussed. Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised the large-scale reforms being implemented under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan, highlighting the country’s significant achievements in foreign policy and sustainable economic development.
"The two countries share historical ties, and the relationship between the fraternal peoples is at a high level. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation in all areas", the report stated.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Bahraini Foreign Minister extended his best wishes to the Uzbek ambassador in his efforts to enhance relations between the two nations.
For reference, Nodirjon Turgunov visited Riyadh in March 2024 as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia. He was also accredited as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in November 2024.
It is also worth noting that earlier, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakhtiyor Ibrohimov, presented his credentials to the Chairman of the Presidium of that country, Zeljka Cvijanovic.
