Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan concludes his 12-year mission

6173Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Yodgorkhuja Shodmonov, officially announced the conclusion of his mission in Afghanistan during a meeting with Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban’s interim government. This was reported by a QALAMPIR.UZ source.
The Taliban’s deputy for administrative affairs confirmed that the ambassador’s 12-year tenure in Afghanistan has come to an end. Abdul Salam Hanafi expressed high regard for Ambassador Shodmonov’s contributions in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Shodmonov has completed his diplomatic career and will return to Uzbekistan.
As of now, it is unclear who will be appointed as his successor.
For reference, on July 16 of this year, Sheikh ul Hadis Mawlawi Nida Muhammad Nadem, Acting Minister of Higher Education in Kabul, met with Ambassador Shodmonov in Kabul to discuss improving scientific relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
