Efforts underway to ease employment pathways for Uzbek workers in South Korea

On April 17, 2025, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olimjon Abdullayev, held a meeting with South Korea’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Won Do-yeon, to discuss simplifying visa requirements and creating better opportunities for Uzbek seasonal workers. The meeting was reported by “Dunyo” Information Agency.

During the talks, the two sides addressed key aspects of bilateral cooperation in labor migration and simplifying visa procedures for Uzbek citizens. The main agenda included preparing skilled professionals for South Korea’s labor market, developing joint training programs, and introducing new educational initiatives to better prepare workers before their departure.

"Special emphasis was placed on creating favorable conditions for Uzbek seasonal workers, as part of efforts to ease visa processes and enable smoother transitions for employment opportunities in South Korea," the report states.

The parties agreed to continue efforts in this area to enhance working conditions for Uzbek citizens employed in South Korea.

Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the delegation led by Chan Tran Man, the Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly, to discuss introducing visa-free exchanges to promote cultural and tourism interactions between the two nations.
