Earlier, it was reported that 13 Uzbek citizens were being exploited in severe conditions as ’’slaves’’ at a greenhouse in the Kyiv region of Ukraine. The embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine responded to the situation.
According to the statement, representatives of the Uzbek embassy visited the site to clarify the circumstances. It was confirmed that all citizens were safe and have been placed in a local hospital in the Kyiv region for treatment.
The embassy continues to fully monitor the situation and is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe return of the citizens to Uzbekistan.
’’In particular, notes have been sent to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office to provide consular and legal assistance to the Uzbek citizens. A criminal case has been opened, and a trial against the suspects is currently underway.
The embassy continues to take all necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of our citizens, provide comprehensive support, and restore their legal rights,’’ the statement said.
Additionally, the embassy advises Uzbek citizens not to plan visits to Ukraine at this time, considering that situations potentially threatening human life are being observed in the country.
It was reported earlier that, in connection with this case, two Chinese citizens, one Uzbek citizen, and one Ukrainian woman were detained. They have been formally charged with committing a serious crime.
