A specialist from the Hydrometeorological Center of Uzbekistan addressed the rumors of a potential -20 degrees temperature drop in the country.

According to the expert, while a cold air stream has entered Uzbekistan, it's inappropriate to predict widespread -20 degrees temperatures in the near future. The extreme temperatures of -20 degrees are primarily anticipated in the north-western regions, specifically in the northern areas of Karakalpakstan and the Navoi region.

Expert Humayun Mag'ripov stated that the cold air mass has largely affected Uzbekistan, but clarified that the current temperatures are not considered anomalous.

"Anomalous cold" has specific criteria—it's when temperatures drop 7 degrees below the daily average and persist for at least 5 consecutive days. Mag'ripov emphasized, "There's no need to panic; this is not anomalous cold—it's a typical winter.”
