Where do most Uzbeks go for studies?

The majority of Uzbek citizens studying abroad are going to Tajikistan, according to a report by the Statistics Agency.

From January to August 2024, a total of 25,800 citizens of Uzbekistan went abroad to study, marking an increase of 602 people, or 2.4%, compared to the same period last year.

The breakdown of Uzbek citizens studying abroad during this period by country is as follows:

  • Tajikistan — 10,701 people
  • Russia — 6,032 people
  • Kyrgyz Republic — 2,408 people
  • Turkey — 1,640 people
  • South Korea — 1,383 people
  • Kazakhstan — 1,102 people
  • China — 507 people
  • United Kingdom — 475 people
  • United States — 355 people
  • United Arab Emirates — 238 people
  • Other countries — 974 people

It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that from January to July 2024, 3.4 million Uzbeks traveled abroad for tourism, with the largest number of tourists visiting Kyrgyzstan.
