The Uzbek team, which had qualified for the Under-17 Volleyball World Championship held in Bulgaria from August 24-31, did not participate in the event due to delays in visa processing by the Bulgarian Embassy in Tashkent. This information was reported by QALAMPIR.UZ.

The U-17 Uzbekistan team secured 2nd place in the 2023 Asian Championship held in Tashkent, which earned them a spot in the World Championship. However, their absence from Bulgaria resulted in a technical defeat in all three matches of the group stage.

“The visa issuance system at the Bulgarian embassy was non-operational for 20 days. Although the embassy notified us that our visas were ready a few days ago, we were unable to play even a single game in the group stage. We have submitted all necessary documents to the embassy and are preparing an official complaint to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this situation,” said an official from the Volleyball Federation of Uzbekistan.

The U-17 national volleyball team of Uzbekistan is expected to participate in the Asian Youth Games, which will be held in Tashkent next year.
