Uzbek medical team returned from Turkey

5802Qualified military personnel of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, who participated in the rescue and clean up efforts following the earthquake in Turkey for 24 days, returned to Tashkent. The press service of the ministry provides information about it.
It is noted that today, on 6 March, at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, the employees of the Ministry of Defense’s medical detachment were met by the media, representatives of the general public, the Deputy Minister of Defense and other officials.
For information, according to the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on 8 February this year, a medical detachment of qualified military personnel of the Ministry of Defense was sent to assist in eliminating the destruction following the Turkish earthquakes and provide medical aid to the victims.
For almost a month, Uzbek military personnel provided humanitarian assistance to the Turkish people affected by the earthquakes, and supported them in difficult times. During this time, military personnel provided medical assistance to a total of 3,860 citizens. 1795 of those rescued were men, 1177 were women, and 888 were children.
Earlier, on 25 February of this year, the rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations returned to Uzbekistan.
It should be recalled that on 6 February this year, terrible earthquakes occurred in the southeastern regions of Turkey. As a result, the number of earthquake victims exceeded 44,000. According to the order of the President of Uzbekistan, a search and rescue team of 100 people of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was sent to the center of the natural disaster, that is, the Hatay region. The rescue operation with the participation of the squad lasted more than 2 weeks, and during this time, the rescuers recovered 18 living people and about 200 bodies from the rubble.
