The athlete from Uzbekistan becomes a two-time winner of the World Championship

The national team of Uzbekistan secured its first medal at the World Senior Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia. This information was reported by the National Olympic Committee's information service.

It was reported that on September 22nd, Jasurbek Ortiqboyev, an athlete from Uzbekistan, won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling. 

Competing in the 55 kg weight category, the wrestler defeated Moldovan Artyom Delenau with a score of 6:1 in the match for the third place. Ortiqboyev achieved his second consecutive bronze medal at the World Championship.

Additionally, Aram Vardanyan, who competed in the 77-kilogram weight category, won his first qualifying round against Egyptian Muhammad Zahab Halil but lost to Japanese Nao Kusaka in the bronze medal match. However, Vardanyan secured a ticket for the 2024 Paris Olympics by defeating Kazakhstan's Demeu Jadrayev.

This marked the third Olympic qualification among Uzbekistan's athletes. Prior to this, gymnast Takhmina Ikromova and freestyle wrestler Javrail Shapiyev had also received tickets to the prestigious four-year competition."
