Uzbekistan's Asian games winner was banned from sports for 3 years

Uzbek canoeist Shahmurod Holmurodov has been banned from the sport for three years after testing positive for the banned substance Clomiphene. This was confirmed by the press service of the Anti-Doping Agency of Uzbekistan.

Holmurodov was disqualified under Article 10.2.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code, following a violation of Rule 2.1, which relates to the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites in an athlete's sample.

During his disqualification, Holmurodov is prohibited from participating in any international or national competitions, as well as training camps, for the duration of his ban. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in a lifetime disqualification. The World Anti-Doping Code also allows for penalties to be applied against sports federations or associations associated with the athlete.

Holmurodov had previously competed in the doubles event at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, where he emerged victorious.
