The Asian Weightlifting Championship is currently underway in Tashkent, and Uzbek weightlifter Sarvarbek Zafarjonov has already made a remarkable impact by winning two medals.
Competing in the -89 kg weight category, Zafarjonov claimed a gold medal in the snatch, lifting an impressive 167 kg. In the clean and jerk, he successfully lifted 195 kg, earning him a silver medal. With a total combined weight of 362 kg from both lifts, Zafarjonov secured second place in the overall ranking.
These two medals—one gold and one silver—mark a significant achievement for Uzbekistan, as they represent the country's first medals in the tournament. Zafarjonov's performance has placed Uzbekistan firmly on the medal table at this prestigious championship.
