Minister Sherzod Khidoyatov becomes Chairman of the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan

At the report-election meeting of the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan held at the National Olympic Committee, Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sherzod Khidoyatov was elected chairman of the country's Weightlifting Federation for 2025. This was reported by UzA.  

Khidoyatov replaces Botir Zokirov, who led the organization since 2012 before stepping down as Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services in the summer of 2024 due to health reasons.  

Sherzod Khidoyatov, born in Tashkent in 1980, graduated from Tashkent State Technical University in 2006. From 1998 to 2009, he served as an advisor to the Supreme Economic Court of Uzbekistan. He later worked in various positions in factories and companies until 2018 when he was appointed as First Deputy Minister of Construction. In January 2021, Khidoyatov was appointed as the Minister of Housing and Communal Services by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  

On July 17, 2024, following the resignation of Zokirov due to health reasons, Khidoyatov was appointed acting minister. Later, in November 2024, President Mirziyoyev’s decree confirmed Khidoyatov as the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services.
