20097WBC ranking of Uzbek boxers was announced
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has released its updated rankings for August 2024. According to the new rankings, Bahodir Jalolov, competing in the super heavyweight category, has moved up to 6th place. Jalolov, a two-time Olympic champion, was ranked 8th in July.
Alexander Usyk is the champion in this weight class, with Tyson Fury holding the top spot. Other boxers ahead of Jalolov include Agit Kabayel (Germany), Martin Bakole Ilunga (Congo/Great Britain), Zhang Zhilei (China), and Efe Ajagba (Nigeria/USA).
Ten Uzbek boxers are featured in the updated rankings:
- Super heavyweight: Bahodir Jalolov moved up 2 places from last month to 6th.
- Super middleweight (76.2 kg): Bektemir Melikuziev is ranked 13th, up one place from last month.
- Super welterweight (69.9 kg): Isroil Madrimov holds the 3rd position.
- Welterweight (66.6 kg): Shahram Giyosov rose one spot to 7th; Jahongir Rasulov dropped 3 places to 30th.
- Welterweight (57.1 kg): Otabek Kholmatov is in 18th place.
- First lightweight (55.3 kg): Murodjon Ahmadaliev remains 4th; Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov is 28th, the same as in July.
- Lightweight (50.82 kg): Olimjon Nazarov fell one place to 35th.
- First super lightweight (47.6 kg): Hasanboy Dosmatov moved up one place to 4th.
It should be noted that Uzbek professional boxers Bahodir Jalolov and Shohjahon Ergashev have dropped out of the top fifteen in the latest International Boxing Federation (IBF) rankings.
