Most business tourists to Uzbekistan come from Afghanistan

In the first half of this year, 207,536 Afghan citizens visited Uzbekistan for business purposes. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.
According to the data, a total of 223,600 foreign citizens entered Uzbekistan for business reasons between January and June 2025. This figure represents an increase of 158,600 people, or 3.4 times more than during the same period last year.
The number of foreign citizens who visited Uzbekistan for business purposes in the first six months of the year, by country, is as follows:
- Afghanistan – 207,536 people
- Tajikistan – 12,244 people
- Turkmenistan – 1,642 people
- Russia – 451 people
- Turkey – 276 people
- Kazakhstan – 255 people
- Other countries – 1,177 people
It is worth noting that earlier reports stated that 9,500 foreign citizens came to Uzbekistan for educational purposes in the same period. Among them, Indian nationals made up the largest group, with 2,780 students arriving between January and June.
