The number of students studying at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan during the 2025/2026 academic year has reached 1.5 million. The National Statistics Committee reported this.
This figure is 102,200, or 7.1%, higher than in the previous academic year.
According to the report, 782,900 of the students are women, while 752,100 are men. This means the number of female students is 4.1% higher than the number of male students.
The dynamics of the number of students by academic year are as follows:
- 2021/2022 academic year — 808,400;
- 2022/2023 academic year — 1,042,100;
- 2023/2024 academic year — 1,314,500;
- 2024/2025 academic year — 1,432,800;
- 2025/2026 academic year — 1,535,000.
Earlier, it was reported that during a presentation on ensuring employment for graduates of higher education institutions, which President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed on June 8, it was planned to allocate 500 billion soums to finance more than 1,000 projects and employ around 10,000 young people.
