Average monthly salary in Uzbekistan surpasses 5 million soums

As of January to September 2024, the average nominal monthly salary in Uzbekistan has risen to 5.15 million soums, marking a 16.4% increase from 4.42 million soums during the same period last year, according to the Statistics Agency.

The nominal salary represents the wage paid by employers for work performed by employees over a specified period, such as an hour, month, or year. This figure includes taxes and other deductions mandated by current legislation. To calculate the average wage, the income of workers with employment records is considered, along with personal income tax, union fund contributions, bonuses, incentives, and compensation payments.

Over the past four years, the average monthly salary has increased significantly, from 2.56 million soums to 5.15 million soums, a remarkable rise of 49.8%.

Regionally, Tashkent city boasts the highest average monthly salary at 8.68 million soums. This is followed by Navoi at 6.61 million soums and the Tashkent region at 4.95 million soums. In contrast, the lowest average salaries are found in Kashkadarya (3.62 million soums), Surkhandarya (3.67 million soums), and Namangan region (3.75 million soums).

When analyzed by industry, the banking, insurance, leasing, credit, and mediation sectors report the highest salaries. In 2020, this sector's average salary was 5.81 million soums, which has surged to 14.48 million soums in 2024, reflecting a 40.12% increase. Conversely, the fields of education and healthcare recorded the lowest average salaries.

Specifically, the average monthly salary in education reached 3.48 million soums in January-September 2024, an increase of 14.3% compared to the previous year. In the healthcare and social services sector, the average salary stood at 3.30 million soums during the same period, reflecting a growth of 12.9%.
