In Uzbekistan, the Water Code will be approved

In Uzbekistan, the Committee on Agrarian and Water Management Issues held a working group session to discuss the draft law "On Approval of the Water Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan." This was reported by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

During the meeting, the draft law was thoroughly reviewed, and several suggestions made by deputies during its first reading at the plenary session were analyzed.

The adoption of the draft law aims to enhance the country's water security, meet the water needs of all economic sectors and the environment amid increasing global water scarcity, promote the rational use of water resources, and improve the condition of water infrastructure and irrigated lands.

Currently, the responsible committee is working on refining the draft law.

It is worth noting that in July 2020, it was announced that Uzbekistan would develop a new Water Code. This code is being created to introduce effective mechanisms for managing water resources, ensuring efficient water use, and regulating water consumption.
