A pilot project on introducing artificial rain technology will be developed in Uzbekistan. The initiative is outlined in the State Program for implementing priority reform areas during the “Year of Neighborhood Development and Social Advancement,” as well as the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, approved by a presidential decree on February 16.

According to the document, the project could increase precipitation levels by 10–20 percent. The experience of France, China, and Saudi Arabia will serve as the basis for implementation. Beginning March 1, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change will study foreign practices in these countries and develop a scientifically grounded pilot project on artificial rain technology.

The development of the project will start on March 1. The National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the Academy of Sciences, and the Tashkent regional administration have been designated as responsible entities.

Within the framework of the pilot initiative, at least three to five practical trials will be conducted. These are expected to ensure up to a 20 percent increase in precipitation compared to the natural background level.

For reference, in 2025 the Ministry of Agriculture reported that an artificial rain device had been installed for the first time in the Konimex district of the Navoi region. The project was implemented in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s International Centre of Climate Change Technologies.
